As a dog owner that refuses to leave my pooch at home and as someone that follows a plant-based diet, I am well aware that I am one fussy pupper!

Trying to find a place that offers plant-based meals, but also welcomes dogs is no easy feat, which is why we now have a PAWsome list of vegetarian restaurants that you and your sidekick need to try.

In recent years Dublin, a vegan-friendly city, has become more and more dog-friendly and there is not much that makes our bellies and souls happier!

So for this Veganuary, we have put together a list of 11 of the best vegan restaurants in Dublin City to take your furry friend out for a tasty meal.

KALE + COCO

Kale + Coco is a plant-based, healthy food cafe that takes great care and pride in providing fast, on-the-go healthy vegan and vegetarian food options for all the busy people in Dublin. They use the freshest ingredients, and every item on their menu is not only vegan it is gluten-free!

Make sure you try some of their delicious smoothie bowls or salads the next time you pop by. It is also important to note that they are a cashless establishment.

    • Yes, the friendly staff at Kale + Coco loves welcoming dogs. They have a water bowl out and are happy to offer leftover peanut butter tubs for any pup that wants a little treat or to keep them distracted while their owner is enjoying the main course. No animal products were used in the making of these dishes. Not only does V-Face offer incredible vegan food, such as veggie burgers, hot dogs, fries, toasties, and wings, but their sweet treats are also PAWsome. Their vegan milkshakes are one of the most popular dishes on their menu.

This veggie and vegan-friendly restaurant is the very first Tapiocaria in Dubin and offers a 100% gluten-free menu. They offer a variety of Açai Bowls, Tapioca Wraps, Dragon Fruit Bowls, speciality coffee, and lovely desserts, meaning that your taste buds are in for a treat.

They take pride in offering fresh produce and using local vendors to make sure all of their veggie and vegan dishes are produced in a responsible and sustainable manner. The healthy food bowls are perfect for a vegan brunch or a quick snack.

They offer a short but oh-so-sweet menu, full of flavour and texture in every bite. They have created a healthier take on the late-night kebab, as well as freshly prepared salads, treats and the best coffee in town! One of the best things about KERB is that they use local produce and products from Irish suppliers.

Little Bird Café and Yoga Studio is located in the heart of Dublin 8. This neighbourhood café offers great food for plant-based eaters of all kinds. Their whole menu is vegetarian with plenty of vegan and gluten-free options. All of their food is made fresh daily in the café, using organic and seasonal ingredients.

One of the best brunch spots in Dublin, indulge in a freshly baked berry scone or try a mouth-watering breakfast burrito.

Shouk is a Middle Easter Restaurant serving up delicious food and lots of vegan choices. It is a great option for people looking for both plant-based meals, meat-based dishes, and even gluten-free options.

Select from a wide variety of pitas, 4 different types of hummus, and whole, roasted veggies. There is a little bit of everything here, they even have vegan Turkish desserts for afters!

  • Is Shouk dog-friendly?
    • Yes, Shouk loves welcoming all furry friends to their restaurant and even has water bowls out.
  • Can I bring my dog inside Shouk?
    • In the winter months, they recommend only bringing small dogs inside, as the restaurant can get a little bit crowded. During warmer weather, there is an outdoor dining area where all-sized dogs are welcome.

Umi Falafel 


If falafel wraps are your jam, Umi Falafel is the perfect place for you and your furry friend to have a quick bite.

Their sauces are made fresh daily in-house, their bread is freshly baked and all of their pickles, salads, and sauces are made to their family's authentic recipe. Best of all, their kitchen is 100% vegetarian and they have plenty of vegan options!

P.S. We hear their lentil soup is out of this world!

They have multiple locations in the heart of Dublin, as well as one in Cork and one in Belfast.

This cosy café located in Blackrock market not only has kind staff, but they also serve up a mean full Irish vegan breakfast, fried tofu salad, vegan lasagna, and a delicious veggie burger.

Make sure you save room for dessert because we hear that the vegan carrot cake is to die for.

It's a Trap

This plant-based micro-bakery and coffee shop should be on every veggie Dubliner's bucket list. Not only is it a great place to get some yummy vegan cinnamon swirls or a decadent vegan cake, such as their Salted Caramel Victoria Sponge (filled with fresh vegan cream, salted caramel, and strawberries), but you can also try other yummy dishes from this vegetarian café such as an "all day breakfast wrap" or a pesto sandwich, all of which are 100% plant-based.

Cornucopia Wholefoods Restaurant

19-20 Wicklow Street, Dublin 2, Ireland

This family-run business has been a staple in Dublin since 1986. Run by a mother-and-daughter team, they have been serving up meat alternatives for over 35 years in a restored 18th-century Georgian home.

All of their food is made fresh daily on-site using the highest quality plant-based and vegan ingredients. Stop by and try their soups, salads, sandwiches and hand-made pastries (from their plant-based bakery), and wash it down with a glass of organic vegan wine, craft bottled beer or freshly made juice. Their menu changes daily and is always displayed in their Instagram stories.

    • Yes, Cornucopia welcomes all furry friends in their outdoor seating area.

    • Dogs are not allowed inside Cornucopia, however, they are allowed to sit in the outdoor seating area.
